Had a accident in February 2011, my fault, first claim ever had that was my fault. Have been insured with Geico for over 25 years". Did not report my injuring my knee until July 2011; Why?: my husband was put into the hospital in February, April, and May 2011, his heart/. Was in hospital for 5 days, 7 days, 4 days.. I was worried about losing my husband and did not worry about my knee hurting|. Geico fixed my car and the ladys car I hit right away, they just don't want to pay for my knee, because I waited so long to say something about it..I have gone to the doctor and got every report they asked for(Geico), even the report saying the knee was injured several months before doctor saw patient, still wont pay, girl reviewing claim acts like it is her money'. In 25 years we have used Geico and had as many as 4 cars insured at one time, payed around $45000 in premiums, they still won't pay, and just give me the run around/. Help help help 127c331

Please take the time to actually READ your insurance policy when you get it. Most people complaining on this board either don't know the insurance laws in the state they live in, don't understand that the % of money you are paid out in damages or medical depends on if your state is a compensatory state or if the other party or you have enough coverage. Also reporting an injury although I do understand about your husband 6 months later is not the smartest move. You could have compounded the injury to your knee. Geico has no way of knowing if you did further damage. Trust me Geico does not violate any laws of any state or the DOI. Feel free to report them, they do not do anything outside of the legal laws or what YOU are bound to in your insurance contract. If you feel they are treating you unfairly and not providing you with coverage you feel is owed to you hire an attorney. I've paid for insurance for over 30 years, your $45000 doesn't entitle you to more than 1 your coverage you have or 2 what the state laws allow. And since I don't know what state you live in, to pay for your medical damages it would either come out of your MED pay coverage if you elected it or your PIP coverage if you elected it and is available in your state. If you have none of those coverages for your injury medical bills would come out of the other person's bodily injury amount. Even that would be the amount they carry on their policy and some people only carry the minimum required by the state. So unless you have MED PAY or PIP any medical needs you have would come from the other party if they are at fault and not you. If you are found at fault for your accident then the only options and coverages you would have for that are MED PAY and PIP if you elected to pay for them. This is why reading your insurance policy contract is important and why if you don't understand your coverages you need to ask.

So you wait 6 months and wonder why they are denying your claim? Do you understand how much damage could have been done to your knee between the accident and when you filed. I bet you would have called right away if the accident was not your fault.
