I got a quote from Geico online for a total of $384.00. I dropped my other insurance and made my first payment on the phone with them. The next day I got an adjusted premium in the mail that said my policy was changed to $761.00!!!!!

They said that the address zone they entered in when they gave me a quote was wrong. So they changed my premium.

This is an outrage! I immediately cancelled and luckily I was able to keep insurance with my other provider. They scammed me to get money, and thought i wouldnt care.

Insurers rate on zip code (where allowed by law) due to decades of data supporting the history of aggregate ratios of claims payouts, i.e. severity and frequency. Providing a different zip code than one truly lives in is an act of material misrepresentation; therefore is an act of insurance fraud. Insurers WILL find out where one lives, and provide the correct premium based on the total risk assumed by said customer becoming an insured of the company.

you filed on the web and got a quote from a computer. then the next day they called you and said you put down wrong info. And you think they are to blame?

So essentially you lied on your application and put a fake address for one or both of your vehicles, and then blamed Geico for it (You did fill out the app and buy the policy online right?) when you got caught.... darn insurance companies...
