Check your repair very carefully

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
auto body and collision repaired a side wall. repair looked good but that was it. Called Geico rep told them about a vibration noise but the geico rep told me the shop manager said it had nothing to do with the repair because the noise was coming from the other side, then over a year later i went to check the spare tire and found a truck had been holding water and the rep Chris told me to take car back to the shop and I did they pulled the records and told me no was no one there to address the issue at that time but that they would call me back for an appt but to this day no one called me back. Reported it to geico and the rep chris called me again and left a message for me to again take the car back which now make zero sense because I had already did that and they never followed up with me. Avoid geico and auto body and collision or you will be sorry, useless reps, poor repair quality and no follow up by geico. So now the shop got bought out by another company and my car is still not repaired correctly. So a bunch of run arounds and excuses until the company goes out of biz

Loyal single customer of 12 years with no claims gets booted/dropped after getting married.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Since 2012 I had my homeowner's insurance and one car for 12 years insured with Geico the payment was automatic withdrawal from my checking account no problem with payments no claims. I sold my house and got married in 2019. I dropped my homeowner's insurance. I put insurance on my new used car I keep insurance on my second car till I sell it. everything was fine in September got a letter in December saying that December 31st they will no longer insure my vehicles. Since I got married they count husband and wife has one and review all driving history so I am no longer eligible for their services.no problem with my driving record but my husband has special insurance that he pays for and his own car however his driving record becomes my driving record. I called Geico they stand by their decision even though he has his own car his own special insurance that he pays heavy for. They are canceling my insurance I am not eligible for their services unless I divorce my husband is what the lady told me.

It all makes sense to me. when you are married you become one his property becomes your and vise versa.

He has SR22 insurance on his terrible driving record.

And his car run out of gas so he jumps in your car and off he goes and putting GEICO at a very high risk of liability. Now if your husband did not have DL or a car you would of been just fine.

Insurance coverage

My wife lowered her insurance premium online and was told by the representative that she was unable to change it. The representative then told her that it would be changed to $133.00 but the receipt that was sent to email showed $185.16. It appears that they will tell you want to hear and then do what they want to do because there is no one checking their hand. Why would they give you a quote if it isn't changeable?

Policy Changes

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I am very dissatisfied with the way I was treated as a paying customer with Geico. I expect to pay the entire bill that's due, instead they push a payment out without notification vie email or paper. The customer service sucks, when you have a customer that's unhappy you do not sit on the phone and huff and puff that is so unprofessional! I expect excellent customer service when I choose your company over others that may potentially have lower monthly premiums! I am in control of the policy I pay, how is that even ethical for you to decide what I pay and when I pay? I would not recommend anyone else to Geico moving forward. I strive as a nurse to provide excellent customer service daily, and I expect the same from everyone else! The absolute worst experience ever!!

Why are we doing all the work

I've been with Geico for a number of years customer service was good, I really believe Geico goes to unemployment job fairs, herds them into a call center and wishes them luck. Cant you see it? Just a bunch of people saying "I dunno, do you?" , "What do I say?" "Just hang up" THESE are not the people I want making decisions about the safety of my car after an accident. Yet here we are...

Thinking of getting AAA

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I've had to user Geico roadside service twice now and both times not helpful. First time was during the winter I got stuck in the snow,no problem called roadside service and after waiting an hour I was told there are no tow trucks available and that I can be reimbursed if I want to find my own (lots of help). Second time recently I accidentally locked myself out, called Geico roadside service and after 20min of waiting I was told the only tow company that could help would be there in 2.5-3hrs. I said are you kidding me it's pouring rain out I've got my kids with me no thanks. Walked 5min to the store bought a coat hanger and opened it my self, I'd hate to see what happens I get in accident and need a tow

I’m not too happy with GEICO these days. Customer service agents are not very friendly. Calls are transferred all the time instead of being answered. Agents are not knowledgeable of the products available. I’m afraid now I must look for another insurance company.

22% increase per new "system" assignment of driver to vehicle

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Been with GEICO 15 to 20 years, can't even recall not having them. Generally, good service and helpful in keeping my rates low,\; lowest ever last year, both of us retired, very low mileage and I diligently take my Defensive Driver course as needed. Just received my July-January renewal and it has increased by 22%! I usually project an ever-so-slight reduction due to depreciation of the vehicles and was totally blindsided by this news. WORSE, after a 20 minute line by line review of my last three policies I found the one & only difference, I (and my Def Driver discount) have been switched from "Veh 2" the one I drive to "Veh 1", the one my wife drives. STILL WORSE: Assuming I had found the glitch (feeling very proud of myself) I called to explain to the GEICO agent what I'd discovered and assumed all would be well in a minute or two. But, no. She explained in a "prepared speech manner" that GEICO has "moved away from a manual assignment of drivers to their vehicle in lieu of an Intentional Automatic SYSTEM-assignment of "highest risk driver to highest risk vehicle." (Unsure of what determines a 'higher risk vehicle.') However, my agent was very clear that this CHANGE OF ASSIGNMENTS was not a manual oversight or mistake, it was system generated and CAN NOT be reassigned/changed manually and, it was indeed the basis for my 22 % increase. When I suggested my wife and I each simply insure our own vehicles she instantly, without a moment's reflection told me that would be more expensive. I asked how she could know and she told me she had done this comparison lots of times. Knowing it would be futile, I asked her to give me the two quotes, both of which were even higher then the renewal I was facing... she was right. Next comments will be to the Insurance Commissioner and then ClassAction.org

Insurance agent here. Neither the insurance commissioner or class action will be able to help you here.

Geico was offering a discount...they don't have to do that. There is no law that says they have to do that and no law that says how it has to be done. They can change their procedure any time they want. When you got your renewal you had the option to say no thanks and move on to a new company.

That was your option. Entitlement....disgusting.

Steer clear

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
On several occasions I have been left stranded. Typical call to roadside assistance goes something like this. Yes I need a tow. Giving details. Placed on hold. Returns with no towing options. Placed on hold again. Returns with no towing options. Prices repeats for 15-20 minutes. Geico rep proceeds to inform me that I can call towing services myself and Geico will reimburse me. Now if Geico does tell you that they had successfully acquired a tow for you the following is the typical situations. Tow company details texted to you with a time. It's 1.5-2 hours from the current time. When time is up you'll either receive a phone call from Geico or another text. A call is to let you know the tow company backed out and they're trying to locate another service. Text to inform you that the tow service is late and exit another hour or two for it to arrive. I have on average waited for 6 hours when a tow did come. I have though been left on my own on 3 occasions. Geico's roadside assistance is atrocious. Find another provider. AAA has a good reputation

AAA did the same to me and my husband. We pay for premier service and were left on the side of the road to sleep in our car in a rural location. Sounds like Geico is no better.

I've had geico for approximately 20 years and each year my rate increases due to others who don't have insurance. Why have insurance at all when I have to pay anyway. I will be changing effectively immediately. In the last year, my premiums for 2 vehicles went from 1200 to 1600 with no accidents or tickets.

"De-register" my car with the MVD???

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Geico received a cancellation notice from my new car insurance company Nov 2018. January 2019 I started getting their payment late notices via mail and email--pay or collections/bad mark on credit file. Harrassed by this for 4 months! Finally, I decided to call. Got it straightened out, THEN, I get ANOTHER harrassment letter from them--reported me to MVD for cancelling policy. They "urge" me yo "de-register" my car with the MVD or my registration may be suspended by the State. I am perfectly law abiding with my new insurance policy, and my vehicle is properly registered. NEVER, NEVER, again, will I use or recommend GEICO to ANYONE!! I've switched car insurance companies several times in my 37 years of owning vehicles. Never has a car insurance company HARRASSED me like GEICO has!!! Wtf

Fraud in Estimates of Damage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
GEICO - Fraud in Estimates of Damage
My car was damaged by a dump truck (Buck & Sons out of Woodland, WA) - losing part of its unsecured load of dirt & rocks onto my car while on the freeway. I was traveling at 70 mph as was the dump truck. The speed limit for the dump truck is 60 mph. The driver of the dump truck was on a cell phone. I got the information from the side of the truck and called 911 as it drove off as if nothing happened. I also filed a police report. GEICO, my insurance company, is covering the claim under my PIP plan, relating they eventually plan to go after the construction company to recoup their losses. GEICO's estimate of repair undervalues my vehicle (claiming its value is 40-50% of the actual market value) and then refused to look at the estimates of value from car dealerships that sell similar or the same age, mileage, make & model. They also refused to give adequate valuing of the top end engine rebuild, new water pump, timing belt, lifetime brakes (300k miles left on the warranty), etc. all done recently. The vehicle has had one owner and is in excellent mechanical shape. GEICO adjuster totaled my care based on a one bent clip on the airbag cover (a plastic piece on the dashboard) saying the entire airbag system had to be replaced (giving an inflated estimate to replace it). WTH! GEICO adjuster, Victoria's report seemed very fishy to me, so I started doing my own research. I went to dealerships to compare apples to apples instead of the apples to pineapples comparison GEICO is doing. I contacted the owners of the "comparable" cars GEICO listed from Craig's List and such. None of the cars were in the same mechanical shape and some have more than 200k. In order to get a replacement car into the same mechanical condition my car is in, I would have to take it in and have, at the minimum, the top end of the engine rebuilt. This would cost me around $3000. The additional work was not even factored into the additional expenses. When I mentioned this to the adjuster I was told that I don't know that the cars would need the additional work - but I do because I really did my research not just printing of clickbait from the internet. Based on my research, the actual value of my vehicle was $3000+ more than what GEICO claimed. I then took my car into three additional shops for independent evaluations of the damage (2 dealerships and 1 specialty repair shop). All of them agreed there is nothing wrong with the parts in question that GEICO claimed needed to be replaced: the car only needs the dings in the paint repaired. One of the dealership shops gave me a signed statement that the car was NOT damaged like the estimate said. Basically, GEICO was totaling my car for nothing!!!!!! This is fraud! It's been a month and I am still fighting with them about fixing the rock chips on the windshield, hood, roof and passenger side (the only parts damaged). There was no damage to the airbag (on the estimate) as it NEVER deployed. Very dishonest behavior on the part of this company!

Poor quality training for staff costed us money!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I got a new commercial auto policy from Geico in December of 2018 on a Friday. Waited all day for them to send the RMV form so I could go get my plates. When the form finally did arrive, it was the wrong one. Cost me a truck for five days! They sent me the correct form on Monday just not filled out. RMV wouldn’t accept it. Then, the “agent” was arguing with me saying the RMV was wrong about their policy! Then I was told my payments would be quarterly. The agent even explained what quarterly meant and that my next payment would be at the end of March. Wrong! They bill you every other month. No warning!! They did say I’d be notified ahead of each payment... Another falsehood!!! Overdrawn account! They were very sorry about the miscommunication and would let a supervisor know!! Then the person on the phone kept repeating that I should have a great day after all this! It felt more like I was being made fun of than helped!!! Be forewarned people!
