Wouldn't cover car rental

Was hit by a Geico insured - she ran a red light and acknowledged to the police that she was completely at fault. Geico reimbursed State Farm for 80% of my car rental but refused to reimburse me for the remaining 20%, said that the rental fee was too high. Not my fault that the woman hit me over a holiday weekend and that she hit me when I was driving an SUV so I got a rental that was also an SUV. The whole reason I drive an SUV is so that my kids will be safe if we are in an accident - and they were - so I was certainly not going to rent some compact car while mine was being repaired. I had to go through three Geico people on the phone, explaining each time that I didn't feel that I should have to incur any expense when it was THEIR insured who hit me! Was on the phone for over half an hour and told them they could pay me and then go back after their insured if they wanted to but I wasn't getting off the phone until they settled it. Finally got them to reimburse me for the 20% of the car rental that I had to pay.

Hit a herd of deer 11,000 in damage car not totaled.

I have a 2012 Nissan Rogue SL with 80,000 miles on it. Kelly Blue Book says after being repaired from $11,500 in damage from my accident it is worth $13,000 to $15,000. Geico says its worth 23,000 to keep from totaling it. They also put all aftermarket parts on the car...

You can change insurance companies, but the same person runs service calls for both Geico and Allstate. If your roadside service technician is busy helping other people in line before you, too backed with calls to help you immediately, he'll arrive at the same moment in either case, regardless of which insurance company dispatches the call.

Geico diminished value claims process

I own 2 vehicles that were in accidents within the last 18 months. One a 2009 Corvette Z06 and 2011Jetta TDI. First the Z06, I was side swiped and the other driver admitted fault. State farm offered 750.00 to fix about 2500.00 in damage. I went to my Insurance Co....

Geico And The Awful Customer Service. Encourage ALL to read

WARNING, READ THIS and I AM OPEN TO ADVICE!! Where do I begin? On February 8th of 2014 I was involved in a car crash with a Geico client. She did not stop as she was pulling out of her driveway on a highway that has a speed limit of 60 MPH. I was driving NB and she was...

I am going through the exact same thing right now. As I was turning left at a green light someone came flying through a red light and as I slammed on my breaks to try to avoid a crash I struck them on their passenger side.

Geico 'investigated' the incident and called me telling me the person who ran the red light was 100% at fault. The next day, however, they called me back to tell me that after reviewing the pictures they changed their minds and wanted to hold me 50% liable due to the fact that my car hit their car. They said that the at-fault car was ESTABLISHED in their lane and I should have avoided the accident. What they neglect to understand is that my attempts in avoiding the accident were the reason for where the point of collision occurred!

Had I not attempted to avoid the accident I would have been struck on my drivers side door!!! There is a police report AND a third party witness statement CLEARLY stating that the other car ran a red light causing the accident! I am in utter disbelief that they are trying to name me at fault WHAT SO EVER!!

I refuse to accept their decision and I will fight to get what is right. Geicos customer service is AWFUL.

Long Time Customer - Policy Cancelled

After being with Geico for over 10 years, they changed their policy, and we were not aware of it. If a payment is missed, they require 6 months paid in full to reinstate the policy. They did not update change of address in the system, so we did not the receive cancellation notice. The customer service has changed dramatically. She really is a robot, and only keeps repeating the same thing over and over. So disappointed, we have lost our insurance with a company we liked, and they truly do not care. Just do not miss a payment, and you will be fine.

The worst customer service in years from Mr. S. Schindler!

I don't have time to describe everything right now but you can get a story from my last response to Mr. S. Schindler who calls himself an investigator at Geico. "Mr. S. Schindler, I finally got a minute. First of all I really didn't appreciate your tone and accusations during our conversation today. Then you had a nerve to call back and accuse me of giving you a fake phone number that I allegedly personally picked up and hung up. Very professional! I had enough at that. I don't want you calling me or contacting me any other way anymore. I was ready to send my photos of damages to your personal inbox but not after your second call. You can find them yourself attached to the claims. So 2 accidents cannot happen one after another? Several random people can win the same jackpot, why don't you go and investigate them.‎ Am I claiming Lexus that will cost $50000 to repair? It's an old van plus it's still drivable! Didn't think Geico was so cheap! I'll make sure this message gets around. ‎Bye."

You should be happy that someone is investigating. Insurance fraud is rampant and an insurance company that investigates fraud is one that is striving to keep rates low for everyone.

Computer System Failure

GEICO's computer system failed and as a result, I was charged twice for my policy. Because it is the weekend and everything is still pending. They told me that there was NOTHING that they could do about for 3-5 days. I am overdraft now because of them. I have to wait until my statement comes in then fax it for them to credit my account. Absolutely ridiculous that I have to wait almost 5 days to get my money back. I am a college student with limited funds and now i have nothing for 5 days. They were so careless. Horrible service!

Advised about winter program without full information

Several months ago, I contacted Geico on behalf of my son who is overseas and had just gotten a job. His motorcycle that he had recently purchased was left at my house and to date, is still here and has never been driven since May of 2013. I called Geico to ask them if there was a way that my son could save money on his policy as the motorcycle wasn't being driven and was parked at my home. The Geico rep proceeded to inform me about their "winter" program. I was advised that upon my sons return (which should be in March of 2014), he would need to notify them so they could change the policy back. Sounds fair to me. Advance forward to the present day. I receive a letter for my son from the Commonwealth of Virginia fining him in the amount of $500.00 for failure to turn in his plates. His license will be suspended as of February 13th and to reinstate it will be another $150.00. I have been on the phone with Geico for two weeks now with several reps trying to help me however, the upper management won't budge. Even though they are the ones who informed me about the winter program in the first place! The rep never mentioned that I needed to turn the plates into the DMV...it never came up once in our conversation. How would I know?! I have asked Geico to pull the transcript for the phone conversation which will prove that I am being truthful in regards to the conversation and never once being informed that the plates must be turned in if the bike was placed on the winter program. They can't be bothered and it's easier to tell me they can do nothing. I was trying to help my son who is struggling financially only to end up putting him further in the hole. I have been with Geico since 1998 and have never needed to look elsewhere for coverage. That changes today. How do you recommend coverage to a client but fail to inform them that the tags must be given to the DMV. I understand that Geico are in fact not the DMV but damit...how is your regular Joe Blow to know that said tags must me turned in to the DMV once the vehicle is placed on the winter program?! I have always had good things to say about Geico even though I pay a grand a month for insurance. As of today, there is nothing I could say good about them at all. I am one very pissed consumer.

GIECO uneducated liability investigators

A teenager was speeding on an undivided residential street with a 25 MPH speed limit. To avoid a pile of snow, he swerved across the center of the street, and hit my driver side front quarter panel and both driver’s side doors. Hitting my car from the side with high speed, he took most of the debris with his car. His car survived better because the impact was mostly confined to the front of his car. MY CAR WAS DECLARED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS. The teenager called his father, and his father came 15 minutes later, and blamed me for the accident. A policeman came to the scene of the accident, but he could only provide us with the report of the accident and told us that our insurances will investigate the accident. THE POLICEMAN DID NOT CITE EITHER DRIVER. It happened that both of us had GIECO insurance. My liability investigator was Jonathan Fox -- he asked me a few questions, and said because the street was undivided it will be 50/50 liability, and I cannot proof anything, because there were no witnesses. He never called me back. I always had to contact him with updates of my claim. From one of those calls, I learned that Jonathan Fox was agreeing with the other side – saying that I was at fault for the accident. I uploaded a photograph showing the snow around which the other driver had swerved, and the specific spot where the cars collided, but apparently that photograph was not considered. Fox stated that debris of my car was in front of the other car, and that alone was a proof of my fault. Apparently GIECO insurance investigators do not have sufficient fundamental education to research simple car movement and apply physics at accident scenes. Sometimes simple evidence and statements made by people who did not witness an accident can confuse GIECO investigators, perhaps because they do not have enough knowledge and expertise, or take enough time, to judge an accident on all of the evidence. In my case, the educational weakness of Jonathan Fox caused me to be blamed for an accident caused by a teenager who swerved onto the wrong side of a snowy street. Further, the damage payout for my total loss will cover only one third of my expenses for a replacement purchase.

I would take all your evidence and take the kids parents to small claims court and sue them for the rest.You say you have pictures and you can place a ad in the paper to see if their were witnesses.Also if there are houses around knock on doors and see if you can find a witness.Good luck

Something I learned and have retained for many years now: do NOT buy any kind of insurance from GEICO! They are not cheap and their customer service is terrible.

Plus, they will hassle you and do anything they can to avoid paying your claim.

There are much better auto insurance companies out there. Seek them out.

Worst customer service I have ever had to deal with

I had been with GEICO for a while and I was making some changes to my policy including disabling the automatic payments. Suddenly GEICO decides to contact me after that to say that they now require me to pay 30 days in advance. I tried to find out why they were requiring this, but on the phone they would not tell me anything and by email they just kept repeating the same unhelpful statement over and over again. To this day I still have no idea why they wanted to charge me 30 days in advance like that and I can show that no other insurance company does that. Anyways every time I emailed them they tried to call me afterward, but as I work third shift it was always while I was sleeping. I repeatedly asked that they call me during the hours I was awake and sure enough I just got a copied and pasted reply followed by a phone call when I was sleeping. When I told them that I was canceling they insisted that they needed to talk to me on the phone, but continued to call me when I was asleep. They also tried to tell me that I needed to compare exactly the same coverage to verify that my new policy really was cheaper, and they tried to tell me that the companies might run my credit after and suddenly raise my rates which I know to be a lie as the insurance companies run the credit report as soon as you ask for the quote.

Working for me, or against me?

On 11/15/2013 my vehicle was in an accident. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident was not paying attention and hit me in the passenger side, back of the vehicle hard enough to knock out the back window, smash the rear axle, hubcap, and cause body damage. When I contacted my insurance adjuster, I described the accident, took my vehicle to the body shop of your choosing, which happened to have a Geico agent working there, and was told that I was not at fault. After further conversations with my adjuster and his supervisor, I was told that the other driver did not have any insurance,nor was the vehicle insured, and they proceeded to pay me out. Three weeks later, my adjuster contacted me and told me the uninsured driver had all of a sudden found 2 witnesses that said I stopped in front of her, and that is why she hit me, they said I was at fault, and they were going to pay 80% of her medical bills. Also, I have been dropped as of 02/05/2014, and the accident is on my record, which is causing me difficulties in getting insurance with any other insurance carrier, or to gain any kind of employmeny in my field of work.

Wow my husband and I were in a hit and run while sitting in a left turning lane and they have put us through the ringer. We have been bullied because we did not get the license plate while the car was tearing down the street.

our previous car was in an accident a few months ago and they act as if we planned the accidents. Yet, they still receive our payments for full coverage while they practically accuse us of scamming.

our left rear door is mashed in. thank God it wasn't the drivers door.

#763171

Where were these witness at the time of the accident Or are they friends of the person on the other car? Something's not right here

#782562
@PissedConsumer763171

no one got out of their cars we were able to drive into a parking lot. When we filed the report the police said there were no reports.

There were people all over but no one to say what happened.

I understand that we don't have much to go on. I would rather them say that they can't guarantee payout rather than talk down to us.

#782565
@Dhalia Fkb

if it isn't cut and dry then they work against you. they believe anything negative

#763009

The major thing here is did you call the cops at the time of the accident? If they were called and arrived on the accident scene, they would have wrote up a report.

That report would have the details of the accident in it. Weren't you employed at the time of the accident?

And if you can't find employment in your field, take a different job. A lot of people are having a hard time finding employment in their chosen field and have to settle for something else and it isn't because of an accident.

#782563
@PissedConsumer763009

we are both employed and would rather fix our own car than go through this demeaning process. but, that would leave us without insurance
